The Road to Our Republic Secondary Schools’ Debate Competition (RORSSDC) 2023 seeks to excite the youth’s interest in matters related to Jamaica’s constitutional reform programme. It will challenge participants to engage in deep research, exploring varying models and approaches and assessing their suitability for adoption into the new Jamaican constitution. Furthermore, this competition will bring together the youth as well as other influential parties to the process of constitutional reform and allow for the free exchange of ideas leading to a more democratic and comprehensive outcome.

Calling all passionate speakers! Get ready to captivate an audience, as the prestigious JADE National Oratorical Challenge comes to life at the University of the Commonwealth Caribbean. The event will take place on August 3, 2023 from 9am – 5pm.
NOC follows the format of a three (3) round public speaking competition. Speeches will be adjudicated by an expert panel of judges.

This module will serve to:
1. Improve problem-solving, higher-order and critical thinking skills,
2. Provide techniques to improve confidence, poise, and self-esteem,
3. Enhance the ability of participants to logically organize their thoughts,
4. Improve participants’ ability to form balanced, informed arguments which considers diverse perspectives,
5. Develop participants’ effective speech composition and delivery,
6. Enhance participants’ analytical and research skills, and
7. Encourage productive engagements within teams.
The art of persuasion is an indispensable skill for a productive employee within the corporate environment. This module will expose participants to tried and proven techniques to enhance the delivery of persuasive messages whilst promoting mutual understanding, multiculturalism, diversity, and teamwork. Overall, these attributes serve to improve the workplace culture and promote greater productivity for the organization.
